Creating a professional website requires a domain name and hosting. If you already owned a hosting plan from SiteGround, and would like to point a Namecheap domain to your SiteGround hosting, then this guide is just for you.
In this guide, I will quickly show you how you can point a domain name from Namecheap to your SiteGround hosting.
If you have bought a domain name from Godaddy, then follow this guide to point your Godaddy domain to SiteGround.
Changing your Namecheap Domain Nameservers (DNS) to SiteGround is a very easy process.
Now let’s get started.
The first step to point Namecheap domain to SiteGround hosting is to get your SiteGround Nameservers on your hosting account.
To do this:
Step 1: Login to SiteGround
Go to Siteground and click on Login
Next, enter your username and password, and click on the Sign In button to sign in to your SiteGround hosting account.
Step 2: Go to My Accounts
Click on My Accounts to go to your SiteGround hosting account page.
Step 3: Go to Control Panel
In your SiteGround Account page, click on Go to cPanel
Step 4: Find your Nameservers details
In your Control Panel Page, under Account Information, you will find your Name Servers. This is directly under your IP address.
Usually, your SiteGround Name Servers will be something like this:
ns1.us72.siteground.us
ns2.us72.siteground.us
Step 5: Copy Your SiteGround Nameservers
Copy out your Siteground Nameservers and paste it on a notepad. Remember, you will need it in other to point your Godaddy domain to your SiteGround hosting.
Step 6: Login to Namecheap
Login to your Namecheap account. If you don’t have a Namecheap domain yet, purchase one from Namecheap.
Step 7: Go to Nameservers section
After logging into your Namecheap dashboard, click Manage in front of the domain you want to point to SiteGround.
Step 8: Add your SiteGround Nameservers to Namecheap
In your domain Nameservers section, select Custom DNS and enter your SiteGround Nameservers in the first and second rows respectively.
Next, click on the green checkmark on the right-hand side to save your changes.
You have successfully pointed your Namecheap domain to SiteGround. Your changes will reflect globally within 5 minutes to 5 hours. Sometimes, it can take longer.
